Unlimited - Jillian Michaels

อัปเดตเมื่อ 10 เม.ย. 2563

I used to watch Jillian Michaels on The Biggest Loser with my dad when I was younger and she used to scare me. But, I recently read her book, Unlimited, and it's super impressive. I have learned so much about discipline, control, strength, and myself. She is all about real talk, especially having it with yourself. I promise you my highlights don’t do this book justice but here we go.

Highlights:

  1. Paulo Coelho wrote, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” But, the only catch is figuring out what your passion is, what it is that you love to do. You may first have to relearn how to dream so you can identify what you really want out of life.

  2. You are so afraid of your own feelings of neediness that you bury them, repress them, and silence them - and then they creep out as projections onto other people, and it’s because you identify with a feeling on some level, and seeing it in other people triggers your negative reaction. You can stop this cycle by becoming aware of your issues so you don’t project them onto other people.

  3. You can only know as much happiness and joy as you can know vulnerability.

  4. If you don’t ask for it, you won’t get it. And if you don’t talk about the problem, it won’t get resolved.

  5. Once we begin to observe our thoughts, we realize that there are many times we’re going in the opposite direction.

  6. Failing to plan often means planning to fail.

  7. Try something new, out of the norm, something that feels out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to get a little crazy. You don’t know if you’ll like something until you try it, so don’t cut yourself off, out of ignorance or fear of the unknown, from opportunities that might hold the key to your future.

  8. In a literal subatomic-composition sense, we each emit our own unique energy, what quantum folks call vibrational frequency. It is a specific wavelength of energy that changes according to our will and consciousness.

  9. When you look at it from a quantum physics perspective, you actually owe it to yourself, to everyone you know, to find your purpose in life, so that you can find your optimum frequency.

  10. We’re all kind of like satellites, picking up signals from others and projecting ones of your own into the world around you. Whether you realize it or not, your life is a direct result of your personal energy field and if you don’t like what’s coming in, you are free to change the information and energy you’re sending out.

  11. If you aren’t aware of your issues, you’re destined to repeat the same unhealthy behaviors and patterns again and again. Your problems arise not from your lack of positive attributes but from your lack of awareness of your actions.

  12. Luck is a lie.

  13. We’re all mirrors that way, projecting and seeing the things we don’t like in ourselves onto other people, then blaming them or attacking them for it.

  14. When you are truly able to gain an understanding of the person or people who wronged you, then you will stop internalizing their demons and letting their issues destroy your self-esteem and self-worth. This takes time and patience.

  15. It is not easy to change the way you see yourself. If you grew up experiencing loss, failure, or rejection, it can be hard to break those beliefs because you don’t have any other frame of reference.

  16. It is not easy to change the way you see yourself. If you grew up experiencing loss, failure, or rejection, it can be hard to break those beliefs because you don’t have any other frame of reference.

  17. By resisting change, you stunt your evolution. Even though change is the only constant in life, we cling to the status quo.

  18. You should do something every day that scares you.

  19. The more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will achieve the security that you desire.

  20. When you are willing to give away the very thing you’re in the search of, you keep abundance in circulation in all our lives. If it’s money you want, be generous. If it’s love and support, be loving and encouraging toward others.

  21. To people with low self-esteem, disappointing others is the worst thing imaginable because they define their own value by pleasing others.

  22. The first time you have an experience or learn something new, a new pathway is created. Then the next time you have that experience, your brain will search to see if you have experienced it before. If you have, the experience will follow the same pathway.

  23. The more you engage in a behavior or think a thought, the stronger the neural pathway holding that thought or behavior will become. That is how a thought or action becomes a habit.

  24. Life is not about winning or losing - it’s about developing the ability to find solutions.

  25. Give respect and don’t let people feel undervalued, attacked, taken advantage of or demeaned.

  26. Be present. You’re here now so bring awareness to yourself and the things you do every day.

Be you. That’s really your only choice anyway. Everyone else is taken.

*As always, I take no credit.
